Face masks have long been a staple in our beauty kit, mainly for their amazing ability to draw out toxins and nasties from the skin in under half an hour. Whether clay, sheet, or the old school peel off variety are your mask of choice, there's no denying their power to deliver a moisture boost and leave behind a brighter, glowing complexion. I mean, what else are Sunday evenings for, right?
But if you thought the fear of the doorbell ringing/coming face to face with another human whilst wearing said mask had peaked at bubble masks, you ain't seen nothing yet, because this one is a whole other level of eek.
Enter: the Hanacure All-in-One-Facial. While it won't make you look like Mrs Doubtfire in THAT pie scene, it will pull your skin tight making it appear creepy, crackling and oldie looking which is just as hella weird. No prizes for guessing that it's already blowing up Instagram, thanks mostly to celebrity fan Drew Barrymore, who's singing it's praises for literally pulling her face to make her look '10 years younger' and not a #spon hashtag in sight.
Now bear with me, 'cos things are about to get a little sciencey up in here. Designed to fight the most common skin concerns and ageing, the treatment is a tightening and brightening mask which you 'paint' on to the skin, and is made of its proprietary formulation called the 'Purifying Compound'.
The peptides inside this compound encourage collagen growth to remove fine lines and wrinkles, and botanical extracts moisturise the skin. The two go together like doughnuts and jam, making this one effective treatment. Basically, it really works.
While this mask produces crazy good results (if the selfies on Instagram are anything to go by) it does require a bit more prep than your average face mask in a tube. The kit contains a Lifting Serum, Gelling Solution and a brush which all need to be mixed together.
Pop open the Lifting Serum's cap, pour it into the Gelling Solution's pod, and shake for about 20 seconds to create a gel-like mixture, then brush the treatment all over your face - avoiding your eyes and mouth of course.
Once your whole face is completely coated with the gel, let it dry and relax (or begin aforementioned paranoia about someone calling at your door) for about half an hour, et voila.
The brand recommends that minimal movements are made during this time to keep the treatment in place, so it might not be a good idea to watch those funny cat videos you've bookmarked on Youtube. If you've got an itch, Hanacure recommends you 'fan' yourself, which, apparently also increases the mask's efficacy. When the 30 minutes is up, rinse it all off and bask in your smooth and youthful skin - totally a valid excuse to take a selfie.
