Seeing your ex's face crop up on your newsfeed is disconcerting enough. Sometimes even years of happiness later, seeing his stupid mug can make you want to scream into a pillow and smash your laptop with a sledgehammer. Oh, "Jamie is having a good time in Italy with Janine", is he? Well f*ck you Jamie, we don't need you anymore!
So having Facebook sabotage your morning with its 'On This Day' feature, hauling up old images of you and your ex enjoying happier times, is just not cool. Thankfully, those Facebook peeps aren't heartless and have changed the feature so you can now choose who you do and don't want to have 'memories' with, eradicating the need to buy and eat twenty mars bars/stab a pillow/remember anything about your first weekend break with your ex, for the foreseeable future.
To block your ex, or anyone else you don't like on Facebook but keep them on there to maintain the facade of friendship, all you need to do is take a little trip to the On This Day page. From there, you click on preferences, and then you can choose to filter out any people you do not want to remember, or any dates you'd rather forget. So, if you want to forget everything that happened on the date that your cat died, you can. And thank god, because I cannot handle another October 20th like I did last year. RIP Ferris Meuller.
Big thanks to the sensitive folk at Facey B HQ for this one. You're preventing the recurring heartbreak of men and women everywhere.
