Miley Cyrus has ensured that the MTV Europe Music Video Awards will be as talked about as the MTV Video Music Awards by appearing to pull out a spliff and light it on stage.
The 20-year-old singer – who previously twerked her way to notoriety with Robin Thicke at the VMAs – took to the stage to collect the coveted Best Video Award when she decided she fancied a smoke.
As she was given the gong for her much talked about Wrecking Ball video, Miley said: "I couldn't fit the award in my bag. But I could fit this."
She puffed away and a few people in the audience cheered, but the majority of the audience in the Amsterdam arena looked on in stunned silence.
Clearly the cannabis-loving singer had been visiting the various coffee shops in the Dutch capital earlier in the day and decided to take advantage of the fact that smoking marijuana is tolerated there.
Of course that wasn’t the only shocking thing Miley did that night – she walked up the red carpet wearing a revealing mini-dress emblazoned with the faces of murdered rappers Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.
She also launched the evening’s events, opening the space-themed show by performing We Can’t Stop in a skin-tight silver latex suit as she twerked on a female dwarf clad in black.
The pair slapped each other’s bottoms and Miley appeared to grab her breast as they cavorted together on stage.
That wasn’t Miley’s only performance that evening – the newest bad girl of pop also belted out her emotional hit Wrecking Ball wearing a high-cut white leotard and towering white heels.
A few other female popstars also dared to bared for the A-list music event – Ellie Goulding wore a sheer black lace number which showed off her underwear, while rapper Iggy Azalea flashed her nether regions in a double thigh-high split sheer one-shoulder gown.
However Katy Perry and Rita Ora opted to cover up, with Katy in a modest mint green dress which covered her chest and legs, and Rita in a low-key plain black dress.
Randomly Will Ferrell, dressed up as his iconic character Ron Burgundy, also put in an appearance at the MTV EMAs.
