Cara Delevingne is determined to make the crossover from the catwalk to the silver screen.
The Burberry favourite has reportedly signed on to The Face Of An Angel, directed by the provocative Michael Winterbottom and also starring Colin Firth and Daniel Bruhl.
Based around the Amanda Knox story, the film will follow a troubled filmmaker researching the murder trial in Italy, as he tries to reconnect with his own daughter after seeing the murder victim largely forgotten by the media.
The film is only in pre-production, but it’s already facing criticism from some who say that it’s too soon to make a movie about the tragedy, especially as it’s still unknown exactly what happened to Meredith Kercher.
British student Meredith, 21, was stabbed and killed in 2007 at the home she shared with American student Amanda Knox.
In 2009 Knox and her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were found guilty of her murder, but these convictions were overturned in 2011 and a retrial is currently under way in Florence.
Budding actress Cara will not be playing the part of Amanda Knox, but many still think that it’s a risky project for the young model to be involved with.
A source tells 3am: “It doesn’t look like Cara will be playing Foxy Knoxy but she will have a major role, as the director wants to focus on events surrounding the trial and the people whose lives have been affected by it.”
“Getting Cara is a real coup for the film but is also brilliant for her career. It proves she’s an in-demand actress and will help to boost her career Stateside.”
“She has been thinking about relocating there and, with big film offers coming in, it’s looking likely movies will soon be Cara’s main focus.”
The Anna Karenina star has had a busy time of late – there was a bidding war amongst acting agencies in Tinseltown to sign the leggy blonde.
She decided to go with LA uber-agency William Morris and recently finished shooting Brit flick Kids in Love.
As well as The Face Of An Angel, which starts filming in Siena and Rome next month, Cara has three other roles in the pipeline, including the film adaptation of Martin Amis’ novel London Fields, alongside Billy Bob Thornton and Amber Heard.
