Jessica Alba's a firm hair favourite here at sofeminine HQ, we're always watching her every move when it comes to her tresses. Whether she's brunette, bottle blonde, ombre, sleek, straight or chignon-ed, this is one A-lister who never has a bad hair day.
Now the star has gone a brave new shade of blonde for her movie, Barely Lethal and judging by the sultry selfie she posted on Instagram, we think Jessica must be pleased with the results.
In the past we've seen her as a radiant brunette and a blonde bombshell so we're already convinced she'll be just fine rocking her lighter locks.
She's kept her highlights away from the roots for a more natural style and gone with a few darker lowlights underneath for a multi-tonal effect.
Colour expert Scott Cornwall tells us how Jessica achieved her new look:
"Jessica Alba has always been a big wearer of subtle muted blonde tones against a brunette base, these were previously achieved by applying foils through the hair, lightening these areas only and then doing a method known as ‘camouflaging’ whereby the bleached areas were re-coloured using a deeper blonde tone on tone shade (typically a medium ash blonde).
"With this new look, she has had the front sections treated with the balayage method. Here the lightener is directly applied (freehand) to panels of hair around the face and lifted up. Jessica’s particular shade lacks general tone, however if the hair looked very yellowy or brassy - following the balayage lightening, you would apply a platinum or ash based toner to the hair to create a clear blonde, neutral or cool blonde."
So if you're tempted to make like Jessica and lighten up your locks, you know just what to ask for at the salon.
There's no missing those enviable brows either! Miss Alba's making the most of her new do by showing off her contrasting dark arches and full and fluttery lashes. What a beauty.
