Lea T has a lot of celebrating to do this week. After once serving as an assistant to Givenchy's head honcho Riccardo Tisci (she's since been promoted to muse), and making the runway her b*tch, she is set to further take on the world by way of some MAJOR news.
It was just announced that the stunner is now the newest face for beauty brand Redken - and yes this is a big deal. By securing this spot, Lea T just became one of the first transgender models to earn such a high-profile cosmetics gig. That's HISTORY.
While the model is known for her amazing long locks (a no-brainer that Redken tapped her for their Chromatics hair-colour line), she isn't taking anything for granted. "It's an honour and a responsibility at the same time," Lea T says."I know many women will look at my face and think about [the brand]."
And just like the rest of us, she has always worshiped her mummy's mane. "My mum has beautiful hair, and when I was young, I was so envious of it," she shared. "Hair is so important for a woman, and I'm so lucky [mine] is natural, strong, and shiny."
We can't even begin to express how happy we are for Lea T. Her work as a transgender advocate and anti-bullying activist only makes this news even more awesome. She is a shining example that nothing is impossible, no dream is too big, even when it means taking the notoriously conservative beauty industry by the horns.
We salute you!
