If 2016's taught us anything, it's this: if in doubt, throw glitter at it. First came bejewelled beards which spawned every type of Instagrammable hair-trend imaginable: no body part was off limits. From twinkling roots to sparkling armpits, if it's hairy, shiny and at least three people in your Instagram feed were photographing it, it was a trend (albeit briefly).
Fast forward to September's Paris Fashion Week SS17 and the humble nipple pasty was given a much-needed makeover thanks to Yves Saint Laurent's newest recruit - boob boss and creative director Anthony Vaccarello.
Mr. Vaccarello encouraged girls everywhere to get their tits out in the name of 'fashion' as his titillating debut saw bejewelled-boobed models shimmy down the catwalk, with only heart-shaped, diamanté-encrusted pasties protecting their modesty, much to the confusion of the prudish Parisian style set.
If you're thinking this is a temporary trend reserved only for exhibitionists and Essex-based reality TV stars, you're wrong as this month's Coachella Festival proved. Personally, the only situation in which I can picture getting away with all but exposing my nipples is at a festival that you have no risk of bumping into a relative.
But if you do fancy braving the boob equivalent to the vajazzle, Instagram is jam-packed with all the breast disco-tit inspiration a girl could ask for thanks to glitter gangs The Gypsy Shrine and Go Get Glitter who have single-handedly transformed this catwalk oddity into the thing this festival season.
