The judges for The X Factor are all over the place at the moment. Simon Cowell has revealed that he will be returning to the judging panel after a three-year absence, Cheryl Cole is in talks to return, and now the latest – Nicole Scherzinger has decided not to return for the 2014 season.
Apparently the 25-year-old singer has been stressing out about the decision for months, but has made the choice to focus on her music instead of the show. A source told the Sun: “She put her music career on hold last year but now she wants to focus on her music.”
Another source revealed: “The reason she is agonising over this decision is because the British public made her so welcome. This year she made so many friends on the show and they became her family.”
Apparently Simon is all for Nicole staying on to do the show. The source continued: “Simon has been a great supporter of Nicole’s throughout and is keen for her career to go strength to strength.” However, the judges panel won’t be short on the ladies, as Cheryl Cole could very well be returning to the show after her humiliating exit when she was fired from the X Factor USA back in 2011.
Simon Cowell told BANG Showbiz: “To be fair to Cheryl, it hasn’t been about the money with her. It’s about whether she wants to do it and whether she can handle the pressure, so I’m not quite yet [if she will come back].” Let’s face it, she’s going to go back isn’t she?
Simon also scoffed at American television as The X Factor USA was cancelled due to low ratings. He said: “I don’t know why any show would want to be in America right now – anyone – because it’s too tough of a market. I mean, there’s going to be, this year, something like 14 talent shows on American TV.
“I’ve got one of them with America’s Got Talent, which, luckily, is just as good as everybody else’s. It’s become a joke.”
