According to TVLine, Will Smith’s production company are planning on develop a new version of the show, albeit it would be set in modern day (so long, Will’s neon side caps) and will put a new spin on the “fish-out-of-water tale”.
The original story, if you have been living under a rock and/or have no desire to make yourself happy ran from 1990 to 1996, follows Will Smith as his mother forces him to live with his wealthy Aunt and Uncle in Bel-Air after he gets into one little fight on the playground where he spent most of his days. Going from rags to riches, Will gets up to all sorts of mischief with his cousins: the bratty Hilary, snobby Carlton and baby sister Ashley.
From running jokes including throwing out Will's best friend Jazz, Jeffrey the Butler's sarcastic comments and fat jokes at Uncle Phil's expense, we think it's far to say it is one of the best comedies EVER.
It seems like the show might be a while away though, as NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt told TVLine he didn't know anything about it but would "be happy to talk to Will about it". Have that conversation please!
In the meantime, let's just enjoy the classic banter of The Fresh Prince and hope the new version won't ruin it.
