Welcome to 2017: the year WIRE replaced standard gel/acrylic nails. Did you ever think Instagram would be telling you to head down to your local DIY shop in pursuit of the not-so-precious metal so you could be part of the #wirework web gathering? No, me neither. But this is 2017 and anything can happen.
Exhibit A: wire nails - an art that involves bending and shaping pieces of the household item around the outline of the nail bed and extending it to create an artificial tip. A second version of the micro manicure trend sees people craft mini pieces of abstract art which are then glued onto the natural nail bed.
The buzz trend is the brain child of nail queen Eun Kyung Park who we already have to thank for gifting us with shattered-glass manicures. And while we were low-key obsessed with her previous work, this may be a grower, not a shower. An upside is that the wirey creations don't come with a cancer risk but can you imagine the pain of catching yourself on one of those sharp tips?
