Smokey eye
Keeping most of your makeup minimal with little lipstick or blusher but then contrasting with dramatic smokey eyes is one of our favourite looks. Not only does it have a stunning effect, it is also lovely and simple (as long as your hand is steady applying that liquid eyeliner, of course).
What you need:
For the simple smokey eyed look, try Kiko's perfect base corrector paired with Clarin's extra firming foundation and bareMinerals' gorgeous perfect veil powder to give your foundation a matte finish.
Then blend together the famous Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 shades tease, snakebite and suspect with our favourite RealTechnique eye brushes to create the look. Complete your sultry eye makeup with plenty of the incredible Lancome Gradiose mascara, done!
Red lip
What can we say? There's nothing more appropriate for Valentine's day than a red lipstick. Red is the colour of passion and desire, and trust us when we say we have MAD desire to get this bold look.
What you need:
Keep the rest of your makeup simple (though there it's never not okay to get creative with liquid eyeliner, so free free to embolden those cat flicks!), but when it comes to your lips it's time to go ALL OUT. Using Urban Decay's 'bang' lip liner and MAC's Ruby Woo lippy, give your lips the look of lurve this Valentine's Day.
Bronzed goddess
If you're ALL about the contour, make like Kim K and head off to Valentine's Day like the glowing goddess you are this year. This look is particularly striking as you want to look like you've just returned from vacay with perfectly tanned skin that seems to glow, and this is a tricky look to get (go too far and you've simply been tangoed.)
What you need:
We recommend using a hydrating tinted moisturiser than not only gives great coverage but also gives you a natural glow, so of course we turned to the award-winning bareMinerals complexion tinted hydrating gel cream for your base coverage. Then it is ALL about the layers, so use the Clarins bronzing duo compact to give your look the right shades of bronze. Finally, add some subtle lippy to complement the look (we're obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury's K.I.S.S.I.N.G range)!
Sultry purple lip
This look isn't just about sticky on a bit of purple lippy. From eyes to cheeks to lips, the idea is to be BOLD.
What you need:
Layer up your eyeshadow in dark shades of purple using Me Me Me's trio eyeshadow, then add Eylure false lashes. To contour, we recommend the Smashbox contouring kit with a RealTechniques sculpting brush to define and blend (trust us, the brush is errrrything.) Finally, try NARS audacious lipstick in Ingrid for the dark, plum lip shade and voila! Don't forget to seal your look with a finishing spray, we are ALL about Mac's Prep + Prime Fix.
Pretty and pastel
It's Valentine's Day so hey! Why shouldn't you a little OTT on the cutesy? And when we say cutesy, we mean PINK.
What you need:
For the look you KNOW Elle Woods would love, think about keeping it light and understated and just really, really pink. Don't try to make the pink too bright, so the key is to blend and blend some more!
Natural and dewey
Forget contouring, this look is ALL about the strobe. Now someone pass us a highlighter stick and let's get to it.
What you need:
The whole point is to look as fresh faced and natural as possibly (while looking flawless of course!) After applying your base foundation, rather than using powder for a matte finish, instead you want to make your look as fresh and dewey as possible which means one thing guys: highlighter.
Generously apply Benefit's high beam on your cheek bones, the ridge of your nose and even on your chin crease and blend in, complementing the look with the Clinique highlighting stick or Illamasqua's amazing creamy highlighter. To complete the look, add a splash of Laura Mercier bronzer warm your cheeks and a neutral lipstick to keep things understated.
Hot pink lip
Let's face it - hot pink is a BIG look to pull off. It's a look we only ever reserved for our Freshers week of uni, so it's about time it makes a comeback!
What you need:
Let your lips do the talking and keep the rest of your makeup plain and simple. For the lipstick, we are OBSESSED with Jeffree Star's liquid lipstick. It dries matte, leaving you with incredibly bright, bold lips. If that is a little too florescent for your taste, try Barry M lipstick in shocking pink instead.
Love in lilac
Try an unusual look and swap your usual pinks and red tones for a cool lilac. Not only will it look amazing, it'll give your style a whole new edge (hey, never undervalue the importance of makeup to an outfit!)
What you need:
Use a light purple like this Gerard Cosmetics lipstick, and stick to light greys and purples on your eyes. Keep the rest of your look highlighted and dewey and do NOT forget your eyebrows! Make your unusual look MORE dramatic with Kiko's Eyebrow Expert Styling Kit, and highlight with Becca's amazing Champagne Gold Perfecting Duo. After that you are SO ready to slay!
