American singer Colbie Caillat is that tired of Photoshop and unrealistic beauty standards that she decided to write a song about it. LOVE her.
Complete with false lashes, hair extensions and perfectly polished skin, Colbie starts off the video in full hair and makeup, but cut to half way through and the singer songwriter tells a very different story.
Little by little the 29-year-old is made-under as she sings the lyrics, “You don’t have to try so hard, you don’t have to change a single thing.”
Caillat and an array of other women make a stand against airbrushing by going au naturel – no fake hair, no makeup just their very own bare and beautiful faces. It’s refreshing right?
“When I see gorgeous models and singers and they look perfect on their album covers, it makes me want to look like that, too, and it makes me feel like if I don’t Photoshop my skin on my album cover, I’m the one who’s going to look a little off and everyone else is going to look perfect,” Caillat told Elle Magazine.
“And that’s what everyone is used to seeing. They’re used to seeing people on the album covers completely Photoshopped. On one of my album covers, my arm was shaved down and it made me look very skinny. I think that gives a false reality ...”
