Lazy girl hair
In one word? Undone. Even the most glamorous of dos have been given a tousled make under, with the lacquered 60s beehive being the prime example of dishevelled done right.
Then there's the sweat-proof box braids to cater for those avid gym goers (huge respect btw), lazy waves as seen at Jenny Packham, faux fashion bobs and what we're dubbing finger ponytails - no hairbrush necessary. Who says fashion week is high maintenance after all?
Fully loaded lashes
Remember at school when you used to apply a minimum of 5 layers of mascara... and you just didn't know when to stop? Before you knew it your whole set of top lashes had become clumpy and claw-like. I'm not selling it BUT AW15 saw designers including Eudon Choi and Jason Wu sending their models down the runway channelling nostalgic teenage lashes and we loved it, mainly because it means we can finally get away with two day old mascara. Happy days.
Easy on the eye
Elsewhere, eye makeup took on slept in vibes with easy, straighter eyeliner flicks and smudged eyeshadow on the mid third of the lower lash line at Alexander Wang and Felder Felder.
Victoria Beckham's show gave us all the inspo we need on how to pull off eyeshadow in the winter with her sallow, tawny peach eyelids paired with beautiful bare skin. Any chance of dropping a tutorial VB?
Red lips all round
Like Beyonce once said, what goes around comes back around my baby, and red lips are constantly coming full circle. AW16 saw everything from the deep merlot hues and just bitten glosses to the almost anti-autumn blood orange pouts at Christian Siriano and J.JS Lee. If there's one thing every girl can do, it's a red lip so don't let the cold climat hold ya back - go and draw a hundred lipstick lines on your hand already. Good luck settling on one!
Squeaky clean pores
Our complexions have been given a normcore revamp and we couldn't be happier. Embracing squeaky clean, breathable skin means one less thing to do in the morning and one less thing to take off at night. Hell yes to that.
Natural complexions were glowing all over the runway from Boss to Lacoste and Eudon Choi but, and here's the game changer, they still did red lips, filled brows and crazy cool half way eyeliner. No big deal? Accept it is. See, normally we'd be inclined to ditch the whole shebang if we were going bare but this allows us to look like one of those cool, effortless French girls we've aways wanted to be. Merci for the tip guys, merci.
And for those wanting to stand out from the crowd just a little bit more...
There's subtle metallics! From dots of pearlescent highlighter and smokey silvers at DVF to glitter tears at Topshop Unique and gold topped lids at Tommy Hilfiger, if you want to add a bit of sass to your seasonal face do it with a sweep of metallics.
