Carine Roitfeld is the kind of fashion heavyweight with enough clout to ignite GLOBAL trends. That's not debatable. But it is why we were left scratching our heads when she gave a co-sign to these absolutely absurd pool masks.
In a spread called, "Masking In The Sun" found on the CR Fashion Book site, they explain the editorial is influenced by the Asian standard of beauty, which has a huge market for skin lightening and brightening. So while we're all about getting that perfect tan and sun-kissed glow, they have something entirely different in mind.

Mmkay.
Are some of these looks freaking cool? Sure, as far as aesthetics go. But we think it's counterproductive to sit poolside in a bikini with a mask on. Like... you guys, we're just without words.
