There's no denying the popularity of the American-founded brand but it's only now that people have realised, me included, just how logical its name is.

Nope? Prepare to kick yourself because I'm going to explain it in layman's terms. The sole purpose of a pair of sunglasses is to protect your precious peepers from the sun's rays - effectively 'banning' the potentially-damaging UV rays i.e. sunglasses are effectively a banner of rays, a ray-banner, if you will. And there we have it.

I can't help but think there's so many other things that have escaped our radars if we've been missing this trick this whole time.
