It’s Linda’s birthday but Mick informs her that her surprise present has been delayed. When Linda’s mum stands her up Nancy is coerced into going shopping with her. However, her plans soon change when they bump into Dean who offers Linda a birthday pamper at Blades. Nancy, pleased she no longer has to go shopping, persuades her mum to go and returns to The Vic where the rest of the family prepare a surprise birthday meal for Linda.
Carol visits Dot who gives her some frank advice about her operation. She later heads home to find a representative from a loan company on the doorstep, which forces Liam to come clean about Bianca’s money problems.
Determined to sort things out Carol gets her job back at the café. Seeing her money worries Tina encourages Carol to get involved in her scheme.
Worried about Roxy, Alfie asks Tamwar to tell her about their discovery. Tamwar is unable to go through with it so Alfie tries to convince Roxy that Aleks isn’t right for her. Roxy ignores Alfie’s concerns and puts a brave face on when Aleks comes over for dinner.
Elsewhere Donna takes a liking to Terry but is disappointed when she sees him and Nikki spending time together.
